State president of BJP Chandrashekhar Bawankule and BJP leader Ashish Shelar have taken the stand that they do not support the Governor's statement. Speaking to the media, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule said, whatever controversial statement the governor has made about Shivaji Maharaj, cannot be supported. We are not supporting the governor. However, the Governor does not seem to have tried to underestimate Shivaji Maharaj. However, if the Governor's statement tarnishes the image of Shivaji Maharaj, the Bharatiya Janata Party will not support such a statement.
